2018 Metaux Lourds

Our 2018 Metaux Lourds (French for 'Heavy Metals') is a blend of 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Tempranillo, aged in stainless steel.

About this wine

We dubbed this wine (a blend of 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Tempranillo from Washington's Columbia Valley) 'Heavy Metals' (Metaux Lourds) after both varietals had small lots of wine that finished fermentation in stainless steel drums during the harvest of 2018. We had to use every vessel we had for fermentation, and decided that after each of the wines in this blend had finished their fermentation journeys in stainless steel that they belonged together. Aged in stainless steel for 18 months and neutral french oak for 7 months before bottling. Huckleberry, lilacs, raspberry jam and vanilla bean greet the nose, while fresh cracked peppercorn, lime zest, leather, fig jam and black currant await in glass. This wine pairs well with lasagna, chiles rellenos, lamb, grilled portobello mushrooms, and corn-based dishes, as well as family and friends!
